1,5 dl porridge rice (puuroriisi) 0,5 tsp salt (suola) 4 dl water (vesi) 1 onion (sipuli) 1 kg cabbage (keräkaali) 400 g minced meat (jauheliha) 1 tsp salt (suola) 0,5 tsp ground black pepper (mustapippuri) 1 tsp marjoram (traditionally used in this dish but you can also leave it out) (meirami) 1 tbsp oil (rypsiöljy) 1 tbsp syrup (siirappi) 0,5 beef stock cube (lihaliemikuutio)
1.Cook the porridge rice in salty water until all the liquid has absorbed. 2.Peel and dice the onion, slice up the cabbage. 3.Fry minced meat with onion and season it with salt, pepper and marjoram. 4.Fry cabbage in oil for about 10 minutes while stirring it (to avoid burning) and add syrup. 5.Mix everything together and put the mixture in an oven dish. 6.Pour beef stock in the oven dish (you can prepare beef stock by stirring and dissolving half a stock cube into 4 dl of hot water). For extra flavour, you can drop small dollops of butter on top of your casserole and pour some more syrup on it too. 7.Bake in 200 degrees for about an hour. If the top of the casserole gets too dark, cover it with some tin foil.
